2013 Torbay Express Charity Raffles

Charity raffles aboard The Torbay Express steam trains in summer 2013 raised the huge amount of £2261.37 for Dorothy House Hospice. We would like to thank all the passengers for their generosity and the Stewards for all their hard work selling the raffle tickets.

Dorothy House is the local hospice charity for Bath, North and West Wiltshire and parts of Somerset. It provides free high-quality care and support to people with life-threatening illness. The hospice is based at Winsley, Bradford on Avon.

Torbay Express Volunteer Steward Lesley Harris presented the donation to Emily Knight from Dorothy House Hospice.

This relaxing tour starts and ends in Dartmouth and passes Bayards Cove, Warfleet Creek, both Dartmouth & Kingswear Castles, Britannia Royal Naval College, Noss boat yard, the quaint village of Dittisham and the Greenway Estate, former home of the late Dame Agatha Christie.

Raffle raises funds for Wallace & Gromit's Children's Foundation

Raffles organised by the team of volunteer Stewards aboard 2012 Summer’s Torbay Express steam trains raised over £2,000 for the Wallace and Gromit's Children’s Foundation. The Torbay Express would like to thank the Stewards for all their hard work and the passengers who so generously and kindly contributed.

The Wallace and Gromit’s Children’s Foundation, based in Bristol, is a national charity for children’s health that raises money for sick children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK. Every year across the UK millions of children are treated in hospitals and hospices. Some suffer from common childhood illnesses whilst others face serious and possibly life-changing conditions such as cancer or leukemia. Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation provides comfort, state of the art equipment, family facilities and entertainment such as art, music and play therapy to hundreds of thousands of sick kids each year. It is the only children’s charity supporting sick kids in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.
